My mother started on my dress. Of course there will be no pictures of my dress until after I have said my vows, but I can tell you a couple of things.
Things like:
- IT IS FREAKING GORGEOUS
- We're realizing we need to get another petticoat to accentuate the fullness of the skirt
- Did I mention it's GORGEOUS?
- It's a retro pattern and the fabric I picked out for it makes it look like it's vintage
- oh yeah...it's GORGEOUS.
What's funny is that this dress was not my original wedding dress...
Originally I wanted Maria's dress from the Sound of Music. But that is quite impractical since it involves long sleeves, I live in North Carolina and am having a summer wedding. Yeah it's over 100 degrees right now.
Then I decided on Satine's red dress from Moulin Rouge. Of course it would have been made in ivory not red...
We actually found a pattern for this dress. I was sold. When we went to get the fabric for my dress I needed to look up the pattern number and while flipping through the book looking for the dress above, I flipped to my dress.
I stopped and stared at the picture of my dress. My mouth agape, I turned to my mother and sister and said "That's my wedding dress."
You know it's funny how wedding dresses are like spouses. You just know when you find the perfect one.
*kisses*
