I had my wedding shower yesterday. And let me just say, I know I registered for all these things, but I was still excited and surprised when I opened them.
Since this was as interested in opening presents as fiance got yesterday... (fiance's on the left)
I had to get another little helper...he knew the drill, hand the card to the chick (who's actually going to read it) and then tear into the package.
My mother got a kick out of this...as we all did...
Then I got myself another helper. This is my flower girl. My little cherub...
They did a pretty good job of sharing their duties as "official shower gift openers" at first...
Then things started getting a little rough...
What's funny is that the little boy opened every present thinking it was his to take home, so he'd open each present and exclaim "OOH, YAY!" and then go hand the present to his mom. But my little cherub knew that you had to pass the presents around for everyone to see. And that I was ultimately going to take them home. So this above picture is representative of that struggle.
But finally they were content...TO PLAY!
So I had a pretty great shower. Margarita will be jealous...I received all three kinds of stemless wine glasses. And I broke in all three last night!
But it was a great shower for another reason...I think I'm actually starting to get along with my future Mother in Law!

Let me know how you manage to get along with your mother-in-law.
*Sigh* I guess you have to try and not kill her pets as a start, huh?
Showers are fun. I was excited to get what I registered for too ;)I'm glad for you that there are cute pictures. One of mine, I have about 5 and I'm in 2.
I really lucked out with my MIL. She doesn't have any daughters, so she likes that I'm in the picture, she's the middle child, like me, with an older bro and crazy younger sis, like me, and we don't live nearby! We have enough in common to get along fine, and my bro-in-law's gf gets all the face time.
I'm glad for you that domestication is growing on you. I like it a lot. We've become bums for the most part. We don't have a lot of friends around out here, so it's just the 2 of us most of the time. I love stayin home, takin it easy.
We've been married nearly 18 years now and I'd still rather avoid my mother-in-law as much as possible. It's not so much that we don't get on. It's more that we are such different people I can only take her in small doses. Still, she can't be all bad, she produced Paul after all :-)
I love the shot of Mom laughing with you blurry in the background.
